WHY A 21 DAY PURSUIT?

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

Our theme for this year at Anthem Chapel is ABUNDANT LIFE. We want to see our faith family live life more abundantly as we say no to the flesh and yes to God’s spirit together. Unlike a thief, Jesus did not come for selfish reasons. Jesus is the abundant life and desires for us to be in a relationship with Him. Imagine our lives being defined as the fullness of what God has always wanted for us. God designed us as a people to live abundantly through Him so that we can reach others for His glory.

Often at Anthem Chapel we will start our new year with 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. We intentionally move away from certain things we think we depend on to make room for, and rely more fully on, Jesus. This year, we thought to change things up a bit. While maintaining the same goal, we’ve switched up the specificities of these 21 days for those who accept this invitation.

Our desire hasn’t changed, we want to love and live like Jesus. We want to be His disciples. We are a church for all people to discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus Christ. In our 21st century western culture, two common mistakes we make in this pursuit are approaching our discipleship as just an individual pursuit and making our discipleship primarily about gaining mental knowledge.

This challenge aims to seek wholeness in our discipleship to Jesus as we recognize the spiritual, physical, and relational components that make up the totality of our life. We hope that fully participating in these three weeks will grow you as a human in God’s kingdom.

Our primary goal is that 100% of us would lean in - that every one of us would ask ourselves, “Am I living the abundant life or am I chasing things that will never truly satisfy?”
